K9 bed bug detection

A dog finds what a flashlight misses

Our detection dogs find bed bugs by scent, including the first few, before there is a bite or a stain to see. Homes, apartment buildings, hotels, cars and planes.

Why a dog, and not a flashlight

Bed bugs live in seams, joints, outlets and wall voids, and an early infestation is a handful of insects nobody can see. A trained nose does not need to see them.

Works by scent, so it finds them behind fabric, in furniture joints and inside walls.

Visual inspection

A person with a flashlight can only find what is out in the open, which is usually the second month, not the first.

Anywhere a bed bug can ride in

If people sleep, sit or travel in it, a dog can check it. One unit or a whole building.

Two breeds, and one of them is for allergies

Most inspections are run by our German Shepherd, a breed with a long record in scent work: steady, thorough and hard to distract.

If anybody in the home is allergic to dogs, tell us when you book and we bring our Poodle instead. Poodles barely shed, which is why they are the usual choice for people with dog allergies, and ours is trained to the same standard.

How a dog inspection works

The dog works the spaceRoom by room: beds, furniture, baseboards, outlets, closets and bags.
We confirm itWhen the dog alerts, the handler checks the spot and shows you exactly where.

Before the dog arrives

  1. Leave the rooms as they are. Do not vacuum, strip the beds or move furniture.
  2. Skip air fresheners, cleaners and sprays for a day. Strong smells make the dog work harder.
  3. Put your own pets in another room or out for a walk while we work.

Questions about the dogs

Our dogs find live bed bugs about 99% of the time, against about 45% for a person doing a visual inspection. Every alert is checked by the handler before we call it.

Yes. Tell us when you book and we send our Poodle, a low-shedding breed that is the usual pick for people with dog allergies.

Yes. There is nothing sprayed or left behind. It is a dog, on a leash, with its handler, and it is gone when the inspection is.

Yes, and that is where a dog saves the most. It can clear a floor in the time a person takes to strip one room, so you only treat the units that need it.

We show you where, and price the treatment before anything starts. If it is clear, you hear that the same visit.

It depends on the number of rooms, units or vehicles. Call or request a quote and you will have the figure before we book.

Anything not here, call 825-522-1997 and describe it. Most of the time we can tell you what it is on the phone.
