These terms apply to pest control work carried out by Yeg Pest Control Ltd. and to your use of this website. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and if anything in them is unclear you are welcome to ring us and ask before you agree to anything.
They are between Yeg Pest Control Ltd., a company operating in Edmonton, Alberta (“we”, “us”, “our”), and the person or organisation who asks us to carry out work (“you”). Where you are arranging work on a property you do not own or occupy alone, you confirm that you are entitled to arrange it.
You accept these terms when you accept a quote from us, or when you ask us to begin work. Using this website means you accept the parts of these terms that are about the website, which are in section 14.
Prices shown on this website are starting figures. They tell you the order of magnitude of a job so that you are not ringing round blind; they are not an offer and they are not the price of your job.
The price for your job is set after an inspection and given to you before any work begins. A quote is valid for thirty days unless it says otherwise, and it sets out what is included, what is not, and what happens next. You are not committed to anything until you accept it.
If, once work has started, we find something the inspection could not reasonably have revealed, and dealing with it would cost more than the quote, we stop and tell you what we have found and what it would cost. Work outside the quote is only ever carried out with your agreement first. You will not receive an invoice for something you did not agree to.
Some treatments need the property prepared, and all of them need us to be able to get to the areas being treated. We tell you what is needed before the visit, and it is genuinely important: a bedroom that has not been cleared or a bin area that cannot be reached is a visit that cannot achieve what it was booked to achieve.
Where a property has not been prepared as agreed, or we cannot get access, we may have to reschedule. If that happens we will tell you at the time and agree the next step with you rather than treating it as a completed visit.
On a commercial account, access arrangements are agreed once when the account is set up, as described on our commercial page.
Treatments are carried out under licence, by trained technicians, in accordance with the product label and with Alberta’s regulations for the application of pest control products. The label is the law: where it sets a rate, a location or a re-entry period, we follow it, and we will not exceed it because a customer asks us to.
We will tell you what has been applied, where it has been applied, and how long to keep the area clear before it is used normally again. If you have children, pets, or anyone in the household with a health condition that makes this matter more, tell us before we start and we will plan the visit around it.
We will also tell you honestly where a treatment is not the right answer, or where the real fix is a repair rather than a product.
You agree to follow the preparation and re-entry instructions we give you, to keep people and animals out of a treated area for as long as we say, and to pass those instructions on to anybody else at the property, including tenants, staff and cleaners.
Please tell us in advance about anything at the property that changes how we should work: aquariums and beehives, animals that are not obvious, a pregnancy, an allergy, a respiratory condition, or an area we should not enter. We would much rather know.
Payment is due as set out in the quote you accepted, which states the amount, when it is payable and how. We do not take payment through this website and we do not ask for card details by email.
Where an account is on a recurring program, the charge for each period is as set out when the program was agreed, and we will tell you in advance of any change to it.
Where a treatment needs a follow-up to be effective, that follow-up is part of the price quoted rather than an extra charged later. Bed bugs and fleas are the clearest examples: the first application does not reach the eggs, so a second visit is not an upsell, it is the second half of the job.
Where activity returns and the quote you accepted covers a return visit, we come back and there is no additional charge for that visit. Your quote states plainly whether a return visit is included and for how long, because that differs between a one-off treatment and an ongoing program. If it is not clear on your quote, ask us before you accept it and we will put it in writing.
The residential maintenance program is provided under the agreement below. Where it differs from the general terms on this page, the agreement applies to the program.
Bait stations and monitoring equipment installed under the program remain the property of Yeg Pest Control Ltd.. At the end of the agreement we will arrange to collect them, and we will not enter the property without arranging it with you first.
If you need to move or cancel a booked visit, tell us as early as you can and we will rearrange it. We ask for at least twenty-four hours’ notice where the visit is a scheduled one, because a slot given up at short notice is usually a slot nobody else can use. We understand that emergencies are not scheduled, and we will be reasonable about it.
If we have to move a visit, we will tell you as soon as we know and offer you the earliest alternative we have.
We promise that the work will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, by technicians who are trained and licensed to do it, using products applied in accordance with their labels.
We cannot promise an outcome that depends on things outside the work. Pest activity depends on conditions we do not control: neighbouring properties, the condition and age of a building, drainage, waste handling, what arrives with a delivery, and the weather. A treatment that works perfectly can be followed by a new pressure from next door the following month.
What we will do instead of guaranteeing an outcome is tell you honestly what a treatment can and cannot achieve in your situation, and tell you what needs repairing if a repair is what would actually settle it. Where we recommend a repair and it is not carried out, we may not be able to prevent recurrence, and we will say so at the time rather than afterwards.
Tell us. Ring 825-522-1997 or email info@yegpest.com and describe what has happened. We would rather hear about a problem while it is small and fixable, and most complaints are resolved in a phone call.
Please raise a concern about the standard of a visit within thirty days of it, while the evidence is still there and the technician still remembers the property. We will acknowledge a written complaint within seven days and tell you what we intend to do about it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under Alberta law. In particular, nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under Alberta’s consumer protection legislation.
Subject to that, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss of profit or business interruption, or for damage caused by a failure to follow the preparation and re-entry instructions we gave you.
We are not responsible for the condition of a property before we arrive, for pre-existing damage, or for the consequences of a structural defect we have identified and recommended be repaired.
Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total liability in connection with a job is limited to the amount paid for that job.
We carry liability insurance and are licensed in Alberta. We will confirm our cover in writing on request.
We are not liable for a delay or failure caused by something genuinely outside our control, including severe weather, road closures, a power or utility failure at the property, or an inability to obtain a product for reasons outside our control. Where that happens we will tell you and rearrange at no extra cost.
The content of this website, including its text, photographs, layout and code, belongs to Yeg Pest Control Ltd. or is used with permission. You may read it, print it and share a link to it. You may not copy it for use on another website or in another business’s materials.
The advice pages are general information about pests in this region. They are not a diagnosis of your situation and they are not a substitute for an inspection. Do not apply a product because you read about it here; read the label, and if you are not certain, ring us.
We try to keep this site accurate and up to date, and we correct mistakes when we find them. Prices, availability and response times change. Where this site and a written quote disagree, the quote is the one that counts.
You may not attempt to interfere with this website, submit anything through its forms that is unlawful or deliberately false, or use its forms to send bulk or automated messages.
Where we link to another website, such as our Better Business Bureau profile, we are not responsible for that site’s content.
What we do with the information you give us is set out in our privacy policy, and what this website stores in your browser is set out in our cookie policy. Both form part of these terms.
We may update these terms, and the date at the top is the date of the current version. The terms that apply to your job are the ones in force when you accepted your quote, so a later change does not alter what you agreed to. For an ongoing program we will give you reasonable notice of a change before it takes effect.
These terms, together with your quote and the two policies named in section 15, are the whole agreement between us for the work described in that quote. If a court finds any part of them unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not insist on something straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
You may not transfer your rights under these terms to somebody else without our agreement. We may transfer ours if this business is sold, and your rights are not affected if we do.
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction. Before either of us goes near a court, we would ask that you ring us: see section 11.
