Roofline and soffit

A lifted soffit panel or a gap at the fascia is the usual route, and it is invisible from the ground.

  • Roof vents. Plastic vents are chewed through easily and are one of the most common entries we find.
  • Overhanging branches. A branch within jumping distance of the roof is the reason the roofline is reachable at all.
  • Restoration after. Contaminated insulation removed rather than covered, because what they leave behind is the part that lingers.

Restoration is available: contaminated insulation is removed and replaced rather than left in place. It matters for two reasons. Soiled insulation holds a scent that draws the next animal to the same spot, and it stops doing the job you are paying to heat the house with. We tell you whether it needs doing once we have been up there.

Not through a sealed entry. A squirrel that got into a roof space got in somewhere specific, usually a soffit corner, a vent or a gap at a roofline, and it will keep using that route until it is closed. Sealing it is the part of the job that decides whether this recurs, which is why the inspection comes first.
