How the job runs

Identify

Carpet beetles, pantry beetles and ground beetles are three different problems that look similar on a windowsill.

Find the source

A pantry beetle means a package. A carpet beetle means a fabric or a dead insect in a void. Treating the sighting solves neither.

03

Treat and remove

The source is dealt with and the surrounding area treated, which is what stops the count climbing again.

Check the perimeter

Ground beetles come in from outside, so the exterior line matters as much as the room.

They move toward light when they die or when they are trying to leave. It tells you very little about where they came from.

Only the infested package and anything else it reached. Pantry beetles get into one thing and spread out from it, so the job is finding the source rather than emptying the cupboard into a bin bag. We show you what to look for, because the package that started it is usually not the one you noticed them in.

Beetles are included in the quarterly border spray on the Mice and Insect plan and above, along with ants, spiders, earwigs, centipedes, sow bugs and silverfish. The plan treats the perimeter every quarter, which handles the ones coming in from outside. Something already established in a cupboard is a treatment rather than a plan.
